Komban Movie Tickets |
Even as protests are going on against Karthi's "Komban", the release
date has been advanced by a day. As per the buzz, the Tamil film will be
released on Wednesday, April 1.
"Komban" was originally planned for a release on 2 April. However, there
is no official word on the revised date yet. But an online
ticket-booking website has opened the advance booking for Wednesday,
which has made fans believe that the movie's release could have been
advanced. The film will have its first shows in the evening.
However, the movie can't be released until the court clears the film.
A case has been filed against "Komban" by a group, which claims that
the release may spark communal tension between two communities in the
southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
Krishnaswamy, an MLA from Puthiya Tamilagam Party, had filed a
petition against the movie requesting the court to stay the release. His
argument was that the release would incite violence between Thevars and
the Scheduled Caste community. It may be recalled that Krishnaswamy had
earlier forced Kamal Haasan to change the title of the movie
"Virumaandi", which was earlier christened as "Sandiyar".
After hearing arguments and counter arguments, the court appointed an
expert committee to watch "Komban". The future of its release lies on
the panel's verdict.
However, the movie has been cleared by the regional Censor Board.
They have given 'U/A' certificate for "Komban". The movie has been
directed by M Muthaiah and produced by KE Gnanavel Raja. Lakshmi Menon
and Rajkiran are in the lead roles.
It may be recalled that the same situation was faced by big movies
like "Vishwaroopam" and "Thalaivaa. Both the films were temporarily
banned in the state following protests by fringe groups. Movies like
"Thuppakki" and "Kaththi" narrowly escaped from landing in trouble.
