Through among the discussions concerning director Vasanthabalan along with script writer Jeyamohan regarding old drama schools associated with madurai, Jeyamohan unveiled Vasanthabalan to a book termed Enathu Naadaga Vazhkai, the autobiography of theatre doyen Avvai Shanmugham that helped them script this film. Vasanthabalan had been inspired from the musical drama based 1979 film Sankarabharanam along with the 1983 movie Salangai Oli simply by director Kasinathuni Viswanath.
