Production
In june 2013, A L Vijay revealed after the completion of Thalaivaa, he would work on a rural based project featuring sara arjun in female lead role. Report stated that vikram would also be a part in the film but his unavailability meant that the director had chosen to approach Arya instead. Arya however denied reports, noting that Vijay had yet to approach him and only then would he consider portraying a role. The first look poster was released on november 16 2013. The team, featuring mostly a new cast, completed most of the schedule in a thirty day stint in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu.
Music
The music director cum composer for the movie is G V Prakash Kumar while he penned background score also. The audio's and trailer were released on april 5 2014. The album was released by Gautham menon, Anushka shetty and Amala paul. 8 years old unnikrishnan daughter Utthara recorded the song "Azhagu". The film audio rights bagged by sony music india.
